英国百货巨头John Lewis公布了在对其分支机构进行审查后,8家门店将不会重新开业,其中包括位于伯明翰和沃特福德的两家全品类百货商店,后者开业已30年有余。剩余关闭的四家居家商店面积均在4万到6万平,以及两个面积不足4000平方英尺的小型旅行中心。

John Lewis, theBritish department store giant, announced that eight stores would not reopenfollowing a review of its branches, including two full-range department storesin Birmingham and Watford, of which the latter has been opened for more than 30years.
 
The remaining four home stores, ranging in size from 40,000 to 60,000square feet, and two small travel centers measuring less than 4,000 squarefeet.
John Lewis resumesthat before the virus struck, 40% of sales were online. This could now becloser to 60 to 70% of total sales this year and next.

The new store islocated in the new fashion circle with 942 square meters retail space. The newstore is part of the $800 million Karrinyup Shopping Center development, whichis expected to nearly double the size of the current Karrinyup shopping center afterconstruction and be completed by the end of 2021.

Chairman and CEOJeff Gennette said he expected the impact of the outbreak to continue despitethe opening of stores, but that there would be no further full store closures.

According toGlobalData, sales of luxury goods in the Asia-Pacific region, which has beenaffected by coVID-19, will fall 3.4% this year to $60.3 billion, down $2.1billion from last year.
 
GlobalData retailanalyst Suresh Sunkara said: "Covid-19 has disrupted luxury brands'schedules and supply chains delaying fashion shows. But since the start of thesecond quarter, several countries, including China, Japan and South Korea, havelifted most of their lockdowns, which will bring some comfort to luxuryretailers as they can now open stores and resume business."

04|Itochu plans to acquire familymart fully
 
 
On 8 July, foreignmedia reported that Itochu, the large Japanese conglomerate, was planning totake full control of FamilyMart through a tender offer expected to be worth JPY500bn-600bn. The acquisition will make FamilyMart a wholly owned subsidiary ofItochu, raising its stake to 100% from the current 50.01%.
 
It is reported thatafter Itochu accepting Japan FamilyMart as a wholly-owned subsidiary, it willbe able to substantially participate in the company's operation, and can use Itochu'sresources and platforms overseas to carry out operational reform of variousbusinesses. The future business model is not limited to retail.
